Looziana Basset Rescue Needs Your Help!

Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. needs your help!

Please help Rutherford. He was hit by a motorcycle on the night of Sunday, June 21. The person on the motorcycle sped off, leaving Rutherford bleeding on the highway. Someone in a car behind the motorcycle witnessed this atrocity and stopped to help poor Rutherford by taking him to an animal shelter about an hour from New Orleans. Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. was contacted and picked him up from the shelter; surgery was done last week to try to save his shattered front leg.

The surgery was done by a veterinarian who specializes in orthopedics. We won't know for a couple of weeks whether or not the surgery was successful and that he's free of infection. In addition to this trauma, Rutherford's ear was ripped in half horizontally and his face has gashes. He is in good hands now but this type of orthopedic surgery costs over two thousand dollars.

Rutherford is a young, gorgeous, and very sweet dog and we truly believe that we should give him a chance. It was not his fault that his irresponsible guardian did not properly contain him. No collar or microchip was found and the owner has not tried to find him. Please go to our Homepage to donate if you are able to or you can mail a donation to the address shown below. Any amount would be wonderful. Rutherford is also in need of a foster home while his leg and other wounds are healing.

Please contact QueenB534@aol.com if you can help in any way. As always, we greatly appreciate your support of our wonderful hounds.

House of Puddles Urgently Needs Your Help

It's been a very sad week at House of Puddles.

On Monday, Marilyn had to let nearly 15 year old Liz make her journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
She was a sweet lady who loved to wear her hats. She will be greatly missed.
If that wasn't painful enough, the very next day (Tuesday) Gus also left for the Bridge.
Friday, 4/17/09 he had surgery for an intestinal obstruction & spenectomy and all seemed to be going well. Then, he developed an infection and his Dr. decided to perform another surgery to debride the wound and seek out the cause of the infection. Again surgery was successful, but tragically his heart stopped during recovery and he was unable to be revived.

This has left HOP with over $6,000 in Veterinary bills, essentially wiping out the coffers for the 16 remaining Senior Bassets who reside there.

Melynda Majors has created a First Giving Page for Gus' Memorial Fund to help pay this huge bill. If you can help by making a Donation, no matter how small, it would be so appreciated by Marilyn and the other Hoppers. Every little bit helps!

Godspeed Liz & Gus, and heartfelt sympathy to Marilyn.

Help Senior Basset Hounds With Just a Click!

Vote for Chaps, the Mayor of Basset Hound Town, in the Cincinnati Bell Cover Dog Contest, and if he wins, he'll be donating his winnings to House of Puddles.

He could win $1,000! That would be a big help to all the Senior Hounds who live at HOP.
These are all Basset Hounds who have been rescued and deemed unadoptable due to their age and health issues. They have a wonderful loving home at HOP for the rest of their lives.

Please cast your vote HERE for Chaps!
You can Vote DAILY.

Since I can hardly move around in my work room these days, I decided to open a De Stash Shop on Etsy to clear out Fabric Remnants and useable Scraps.

The shop got it's name from one of my late Bassets, Mabel, and it's stocked with leftovers, hence...Mabel's Tablescraps.

There's a wide variety of fabric types and designs. If you can just never have enough fabric, come visit us!

If you're also looking for other types of crafty destash items, please visit our pals at DeStashin' The Dog House.

Fleece Dog Snoods Keep Long Ears Toasty Warm

Dog Snoods in any fabric will keep long ears clean, but winter time presents another great use for them. Tender ear tips can get mighty cold if they drag along the ground unprotected, as Hound owners well know. Owners of Spaniels and Setters can also attest to snowballs building up in the fur on their breeds' ears as well.

Soft, warm Polar Fleece Snoods can be a tremendous help.
We make a wide variety of colors and prints that you and your dog are sure to love.

We make them to order through our website...or for our ready made line, please visit our Etsy Shop or our eBay Store.
Make your Dog's Ears happy! :)
